Thieves stole purse as woman comforted her mother
Heartless thieves stole a purse from the handbag of a woman as she comforted her elderly mother who had fallen in the street.
Karen Stevenson was out shopping at midday on Monday when her 77-year-old mother tripped and fell in Mere Street, close to the former tourist information office.
Her mother, who lives in Roydon, broke her shoulder and pelvis in the fall and lay on the ground for an hour an half - before an ambulance arrived.
Daughter Karen, 56, comforted her mum, who was conscious throughout the ordeal, while staff from the Break charity shop provided blankets and pillows.
After the ambulance arrived shortly before 2pm, Mrs Stevenson discovered thieves had taken her purse from her handbag, which she had kept close by.
They then used her contactless credit card three times on Skelton Road.
Anyone with any information about the crime should call Norfolk Police on 101 or anonymously Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
