A140 Wetheringsett head-on collision results in two arrests after passer by fails breath test




Two arrests have been made after a head-on collision on the A140 at Wetheringsett on Thursday night.

Suffolk Police were joined by four fire crews at the scene of the crash at around 11pm, with both drivers being taken to Ipswich hospital after suffering minor injuries.

One of the drivers was arrested on suspicion of failing to provide a specimen, with blood tests later being conducted at the hospital.

A second opportunistic arrest was made at the scene of the crash when a driver attempted to pass through the scene and was stopped by police before failing a roadside breath test.

Vasile Spiridon, 47, of Foxhall Road, Ipswich, was subsequently charged with driving with excess alcohol, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He has been bailed to appear at Ipswich Magistrates Court on April 27.
