The Parish Fields Practice, Mount Street, Diss, has paid tribute to ‘brilliant’ Dr Chris Thorneley, who has died after ‘courageous battle’
Tribute has been paid to a popular and ‘brilliant’ doctor.
The Parish Fields Practice, in Mount Street, today announced the death of Dr Chris Thorneley, who joined the practice in 2010, before becoming a senior partner.
The practice said: “It is with great sadness to report that, after a most courageous battle with illness, Dr Chris Thorneley passed away, peacefully, and with his family by his side, on the afternoon of Thursday June 5.
“Dr Thorneley joined Parish Fields Practice in 2010 up to his retirement on ill health grounds in March 2025.
“After the retirement of Dr McCarthy, Dr Thorneley became senior partner at the practice, a role now taken on by Dr Varghese.
“We know from the outpouring of feedback and support from patients asking about Dr Thorneley's health over the past few months that Dr Thorneley made such a positive impression on so many of our patients.
“He was not only a brilliant doctor, but an outstanding leader, and a person who genuinely cared about everyone - whether that was patients, their families or the staff at the practice.
“The staff at Parish Fields are all heartbroken and our heartfelt condolences go to Dr Thorneley's family at this most difficult time.”
The practice has is to launch a book of condolence available for anyone who wishes to sign it, available at the practice from Monday next week.
The practice added: “Thank you in advance for your kindness and compassion at this time, especially towards our staff who continue to work very hard every day to provide the best possible care for each of our patients as Dr Thorneley would have wished us to continue to do, and as he always strived to do himself.”
