Pupils and staff from two schools in Harleston took over the town’s main shopping street this morning for a series of races in celebration of Pancake Day.

Hundreds of onlookers lined the pavement of The Thoroughfare as Year 6 pupils from Harleston Primary School and Year 7 pupils from Archbishop Sancroft High School, along with teachers and learning support assistants, competed in pancake-flipping events, organised by community organisation Harleston’s Future.

Carol Wiles, group organiser, said: “It’s just a bit of fun, but it does create a lovely community feel to the day.”
