Harleston mother-of-four ‘delighted’ after nomination for two national business awards
A south Norfolk entrepreneur and mother-of-four says she is ‘shocked and delighted’ to be short-listed for two national awards which celebrate parents who successfully balance business with family life.
Tanya Heasley, who lives and works from The Common, in Harleston, reached the final of the Courage category of the ‘Mumpreneur Awards’, ahead of 3,000 entrants, and is also up for the Inspirational Business Mum Award, for her work as the sole consultant for Restoring Lives, a service which offers anger management workshops, life-coaching sessions and one-to-one counselling.
Mrs Heasley, who also runs the bespoke gifts and crafts business Momatuvi, told the Diss Express: “I just can’t believe it. I was not expecting it at all and it took quite a few days to get over it. I feel excited and nervous.”
Formerly an advocacy worker for children in the care system, Mrs Heasley started in the anger management field 15 years ago, and then worked on a part-time basis before taking a break to take care of her four children.
However, she was encouraged by family members to pursue the career full-time and launched Restoring Lives last November.
She described juggling both business and family activities as ‘very challenging’, and explained that time management and support from people around her were the keys towards achieving this balancing act.
“My whole life is very well structured. It’s about making a structure for each day, and working out what can be done within a certain time.
“For example, for my anger management workshops, I allocate those days and if I have a report, I do it that night.
“I also have a very good support network – my husband has been very helpful.”
Mrs Heasley added she ‘can’t be everywhere’ and plans to eventually expand her service to bring in more people, and also develop an anger management ‘kit’, for people to use independently away from the workshops.
She will find out if she has won the award, which is judged by a panel of top entrepreneurs, at this year’s Mumpreneur Conference and Awards, being held in Warwickshire on Saturday, November 14. To learn more, see www.mumpreneuruk.com
