Staff and traders of the Corn Xchange Cornucopia in Harleston marked the launch of their new alley gardens with a nostalgic party in celebration of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.

Customers received their first taste of the new gardens, which feature a fully furnished summer house and shepherd’s hut for formal afternoon teas, as staff geared up in 1940s clothing and served up a menu of vintage food, celebrating 70 years since the declaration of the end of the Second World War in Europe on May 8. 1945.

A congregation of land army girls also welcomed attendees at the reception and provided tea in the parlour rooms while the sounds of classic music from the likes of Glen Miller and the Andrews sisters blasted out on the record player.
