G Denny and Sons to close after hundreds of years
A Harleston family business is to close after nearly 300 years in the town.
G Denny and Sons, an ironmongers, in The Thoroughfare, has roots in the town dating back to 1736.
In a message posted in the shop's front window, Charles Adkins, director of the business, writes: "As you will be aware, trading conditions throughout the country have been extremely tough.
"As these premisses are in need of some refurbishment to meet with modern requirements, we are unable to continue in the long term.
"The business will be phased out over the next few months and the building offered for sale.
"We have been most grateful for the loyalty of our staff, past and present, and would like to thank our customers for their business over so many years."
The shop is expected to close in July.
