Horizon Wiring moves into Diss unit as growth continues for business
A fledgling business has moved into a new unit as its rapid expansion continues.
Horizon Wiring, which launched in Framlingham in May last year, has now moved into new premises in Gilray Road, Diss.
The company specialises in wiring systems for motorsports, marine motorsports, simulators and high-performance vehicles.
Ben Buckmaster, co-owner and commercial director of the business, said: “Our managing director, Sean Taylor, who I have been friends with for 15 years and has more than 25 years of experience in the wiring industry, came to me with the idea.
“We could see there was plenty of work out there if we could operate in a certain way and deliver a level of service which might not be always available to companies.
“We both invested, including into motorsport standard testing equipment worth £90,000, took on our first employees and, in the space of a year, have gone from there up to 27 staff and new premises.”
The company also offers on-site race assistance, which has seen them work alongside clients on race days in Australia, New Zealand, Bermuda, France and Spain.
On top of this, Mr Buckmaster said they are passionate about helping the next generation get into the industry.
“Although we have lots of experience in the team, we are giving young people, with an appetite for motorsports, the opportunity to get hands-on experience,” he said.
“The open environment of the new unit gives us the chance to create a number of bays, each with own senior team leader, technical engineer, wiring technicians and our trainees, who learn their trade from all of the other guys.”
As well as future-proofing the industry, Mr Buckmaster said their new home will do the same for the business.
“We see our new home as giving us more ability to expand as our work continues to grow,” he added.
“We have 27 people working here at the moment. This site allows us to potentially double that workforce and stay here for the long-term. It’s a really exciting move for us.”
