A small part of the Tesco car park in Diss could be turned into a hand car wash and valeting operation.

The plans have been submitted by Waves Car Wash Ltd, which is the sole supplier to Tesco, managing its entire hand car wash portfolio.

The Diss hand car wash would be branded as Tesco Hand Car Wash.

The proposal would see nine parking spaces taken up, with the creation of four full-time and four part-time jobs estimated.

They predict a net loss of only 3-4 spaces, because the set up of the operation is geared to people having their cars cleaned and valeted while they shop.

There would be a canopy and the stationing of an office.

A statement supporting the application said: “We do not believe that there will be a material increase in noise and disturbance from the site.

“The proposed hours of operation reflect the standard operating hours of a retail outlet.

“All equipment used on our car wash will emit very low levels of noise and the jet washes are housed within the office to minimise any noise.”

Diss Town Council was concerned about water discharge into the Waveney, but the applicant said that discharge would be minimal. The plans are to be heard by South Norfolk Council.
