Gladiator Steel inspires during visit to Mellis Primary School

A real-life television Gladiator inspired youngsters during a visit to Mellis Primary School.

Steel, otherwise known as Zack George, swapped the BBC show set for the primary school, in a visit arranged by Mellis School Parents’ Association.

His visit started with a ‘fantastic’ assembly, where Zack talked about developing confidence, overcoming fears and putting in the effort necessary to make their dreams come true – despite obstacles on the way.

He later toured classrooms, answered questions, enjoyed a press-up contest and signed autographs.

Steel said the behaviour and positive attitude of the Mellis children were among the best of the 280 schools he had visited on his tour.

Paul Ryle, headteacher, said: “The children were absolutely electrified when they heard Steel the Gladiator was visiting – and his visit was inspirational in its message of perseverance, finding courage and making your dreams a reality.”
