Iniko the giraffe set for cross-county road trip to new home at Banham Zoo

A unique cross-county road trip is set to take place tomorrow morning with a giraffe being moved to its new home.

Iniko will be taken from Africa Alive in Suffolk, at around 7am, to Banham Zoo in Norfolk.

The company providing the move, Cross Boarders, will be helped by keepers and the animal team of the Zoological Society of East Anglia, which runs both sites.

The new arrival, which will travel just over an hour to get to its destination, is set to be introduced to the Kenninghall Road zoo’s two other giraffes.

Deborah Harris, animal manager at Banham Zoo, said: “We are so extremely excited and looking forward to the arrival of Iniko.

“We are hoping for a smooth move keeping Iniko as happy and as less stressed as possible.”
