The Swan House Gallery in Garboldisham set to open

Fulfilling their long-held dream, John and Sylvie Maney will officially open their art gallery in the centre of Garboldisham tomorrow (Monday, August 26).

The Swan House Gallery in The Street will exhibit work from local artists and offer visitors a change of scenery, with new work going on display every four weeks.

Former teacher Sylvie said: “Originally, the plan was to just have a gallery to myself but, because of the location, it seemed the right thing to open it up to other artists in the community.”

Work of Gill Thornton, Clare Wynn, John Sibson, Deborah Key, Penny Lindop and Sue Downie will be displayed at the very first exhibition tomorrow at 2pm.

Guest of honour will be past owner Mick the Baker.

"What we are looking to do is have a turnover every four weeks," said Sylvie.

"So this means we are always looking for new work all the time that keeps it fresh. If you go into a gallery and come back after a few weeks and everything looks the same, it just gets to a point where you think it's not worth going back in there."

The Swan House Gallery will be open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am to 4.30pm and the owners are hoping to potentially open the gallery on the last Sunday of each month from 11am to 3.30pm.
