Stuston-based Diss serving business Fisherman’s Catch has opened a shop in its new location
A fresh fish delivery business has moved in to a new location as it looks to net a new customer base.
Fisherman’s Catch is a family run business led by Teresa Potts and fisherman husband Jamie Potts, of Earl Soham.
After initially providing deliveries along the Suffolk coast and at markets, the business now has a shop at Place Farm in Stuston, offering fresh fish and shellfish from Wednesday to Saturday, alongside a delivery service.
Its delivery service will now cover Diss and its surrounding villages, with customers also welcome to drop by the new shop, which opened on Wednesday and is sited next to farm produce shops.
“We only have a small fishing boat so we try to get the best out of our catch and deliver locally, as not everyone can get out to markets,” said Mrs Potts.
“We hope what we do is unique, as we do not know of any fishermen who are delivering in our area and we noticed there was definitely an opportunity for us to use our passion for the industry and hard work ethic and pair it with a gap in the market.
“We are passionate about creating a growing family business. The demand is rising and word of mouth has been an amazing part of that. We needed a base to enable us to go to the next level which is really exciting.
“Place Farm was a winner for us, as there is already a fantastic farm shop , butchers, bakery and more. Us selling fresh fish just seemed the perfect addition to the local produce the farm already has to offer, plus there is plentiful parking.
“The majority of our customer base are individuals. We are aiming to supply to local commercial establishments in our new premises.
“Jamie has been fishing since the age of 15 and has a real passion for it. Our eldest child is 14 and he already likes to help out, and we have our two daughters aged 6 and 7 who want to go into fishing when they are older.
“People can leave our shop knowing they have purchased the freshest fish, and that they are supporting a family run business and keeping our fishing boat running.”
