Framlingham singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran was crowned British Artist of the Year at the inaugural BBC Music Awards last night.

Sheeran, 23, beat competition from the likes of Elbow, David Bowie, Royal Blood, Jungle and Sam Smith at the event at Earls Court, London.

It has been a successful year for the former Thomas Mills High School pupil, with his latest album ‘x’ passing the one million UK sales mark earlier this month.
