Fram College pupils take tour of war sites in Ypres

Framlingham College history students gazed into the past last month with a tour of the First World War battlefields at Ypres in Belgium.

The entirety of Year 9, plus seven staff members, embarked on their trip on Monday, March 9, where they visited a wealth of historically-significant sites under the leadership of the Anglia Tour guides, including German trench systems at Bayernwald, the Passchendaele Museum and Tyne Cot GWGC.

Four college pupils were chosen to lay a wreath in memory of the 957 O.F.s and 30 Masters who served in the ‘Great War’ at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, which staff described as a “fitting end to a truly memorable day.”

A statement given by Framlingham College said: “All concerned were able to get a huge amount out of this profound and richly rewarding experience.”
