Excited children at St Peter’s Primary School in Forncett raised £150 towards a new village defibrillator after bringing envelopes of pocket money into school.

The project, which has been led by local couple Julia Hill and Keith Fromings, has so far raised £2,000 with help from Forncett Parish Council.

The defibrillator will be installed in the old telephone box opposite the school and church, courtesy of the Community Heartbeat Trust.

A special assembly was held at the school during which the children listened to a talk given by Steve Hammond, of the East Anglia Ambulance Service Trust, about the heart.

Mr Hammond brought along a defibrillator and showed the pupils how it is used on a training dummy. The youngsters were very interested and asked many different questions during the talk.

It is hoped the equipment will be up and running very shortly.
