A flood alert has been issued on the River Waveney between Diss and Bungay.
The Environment Agency issued the alert, which is not as severe as a Flood Warning, as the river level has risen and more heavy rain is expected today.
The alert covers the river all the way to Ellingham.
The River Deben, from, and including Debenham to Bromeswell has also been issued with a flood alert. Again, the Environment Agency has noted raised river levels with heavy rain predicted for the rest of the day. The last time the river was issued with a flood alert along the stretch was in December 2014.
A flood alert is the Environment Agency’s early notification of possible flooding. A flood warning, which has not been issued on the Waveney, is put in place if flooding is likely or imminent.
A flood alert was last in place on the same section of the Waveney for a day in February 2015.
The Environment Agency is continuing to monitor the river.
