Five more Covid-19 cases at Banham Poultry




A further five workers at Banham Poultry have tested positive for coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases at the chicken factory to 80.

After extensive testing of 376 members of staff at the factory in Station Road, Attleborough, on Monday and Tuesday, Norfolk County Council confirmed the final figure yesterday.

All cases are believed to have come from workers within the cutting room of the factory – which has now been closed down, however other parts of the factory remain open.

On Wednesday, Norfolk Public Health chief Louise Smith described the developments at the factory as a "significant national outbreak" during a virtual press conference.

Norfolk County Council have announced that they will hold a second press conference about the outbreak at 3:30pm today.
