First World War medals and cash stolen from home

Thieves stole First World War medals and a number of shotgun cartridges from a property in Great Ellingham.

The burglary happened between 6.25pm and 9.50pm on Tuesday June 9 at an address on Long Street.

The suspect(s) forced entry into the property between these times, damaging a ground floor window and stealing a number of items including:

* Three World War I medals with ‘Pte 14149 Walter Matthews’ engraved on them

* A metal gun safe (approximately 1ftx1ft) containing around 200 shotgun cartridges

* Jewellery including rings, earrings, bracelets and necklaces

* Hundreds of pounds in cash

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between the times stated or anyone with information should contact DC Mark Barron at Thetford CID on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
