Firefighters spend more than three hours battling large building blaze, in Hobbies Lane, Mendlesham




Firefighters from Suffolk and Norfolk battled a large blaze at a building in a village for more than three hours last night.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was alerted just before 6pm to the incident at a single storey industrial building, in Hobbies Lane, Mendlesham.

The building was fully ablaze and the fire was approximately 50 metres x 10 metres.

Ten crews were dispatched including one from Diss, one from Harleston, two from Ipswich East, one from Princes Street, one from Leiston, one from Debenham, one from Needham Market, one from Stowmarket and one from Elmswell.

A spokesperson said they used two 45 mm jets, two hose reel jets, an aerial ladder platform and a water bowser.

The fire was dealt with by 9.36pm.
