Three fire appliances prevented a potentially enormous blaze in Long Stratton at the weekend after a car caught fire inside a large barn.

Firefighters from Long Stratton, Harleston and Carrow successfully extinguished the car blaze in Ipswich Road between 10.30am and 11.30am yesterday, before it had a chance to spread to the barn it was housed in.

The brigade used main and hose reel jets to quell the flames, while a thermal imaging camera was later utilised to check for hotspots at the scene.
