Diss Cricket Club bench destroyed by fire at Rectory Meadow

A bench has been destroyed by a fire which was extinguished by a fire crew in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Norfolk Fire Service personnel were called to Diss Cricket Club's Rectory Meadow at around 12.30am after reports of a small fire in the open.

Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire, but the bench had been reduced to ash and metal framework.

The fire service left the scene at around 1am.

This incident is the latest in a number of recent fires in the surrounding area, with a man having been arrested and bailed late last week in relation to a series of arsons in nearby Hoxne.
