Fines handed out following lockdown house party in Attleborough

Fines were handed out to attendees at a house party in Attleborough last weekend.

Six people were caught flouting lockdown rules when police were called to a birthday party in Lavender Close on Saturday February 27.

The householder and two other attendees were each handed £200 fixed penalty notices for breaching lockdown restrictions.

The better weather at the weekend is thought to have caused more people to flout the strict stay-at-home instructions, with 132 people given warnings across Norfolk over Saturday and Sunday.

Dr Louise Smith, Norfolk County Council’s director of public health, urged people to stick to the rules, adding that she fully supported the police handing out fines to people who chose to ignore the rules.

She said: “Most people in Norfolk have done an excellent job of respecting the rules so far and have played a key part in the fall in infections rates we’re seeing now.

“It is important that we keep to the rules and stay local to keep the number of cases down.

“I know most people will but, where they don’t, I support the police in taking enforcement action.”
