Shelfanger Fete celebrates community spirit
A village fete attracted visitors from across the county to a day of fun and games at the weekend.
Saturday’s annual village fete in Shelfanger saw residents celebrate the grand opening of an extension to their village hall.
But it was not just villagers in attendance, with large crowds enjoying a selection of games, including football, hook-a-duck and welly wanging.
The fete was run by volunteers from the village, including Lisa Bulbrook, who said: “The atmosphere was amazing.
“There was a moment when I stepped back and I could see all the children playing and hear the music coming from the tent. It was lovely.”
The event received its best turnout in years, with visitors coming from across Norfolk.
The fete celebrated the work of the local community, which has sponsored the creation of new play equipment, as well as funding the extension and redecoration of the village hall.
Lisa thanked the committee, especially chairman James Easter, who she described as “the driving force” behind the event, as well as businesses and all those people who supported the fete, which raised £2753 for the village hall restoration fund..
“It was a really lovely day. I am over the moon with how it went,”
