The owner of a Framlingham store which was set to close will remain open due to the “fantastic support” of the local community.
Bill Bulstrode, owner of home and lifestyle shop Bulstrodes at 27 Bridge Street for the past 15 years, was set to call time on 45-year stint as a trader in Framlingham after announcing he was going to “call it a day” last month.
The store even had a closing down sale — but the businessman said the reaction of local people, plus a lack of interest on the market, means he intends to stay on until Spring 2016.
Mr Bulstrode told the Diss Express: “We have had a terrific summer and terrific support from the local people who have said some lovely things to our staff here in the store for what we do.
“I think the most important thing is that the people of Framlingham and the surrounding areas said ‘we need you, you are doing a marvellous job for what you do in the town’.
“We are delighted but the proof of the pudding is what we do between now and Spring 2016.”
Bulstrodes, which stocks homewares, floorings, toys, sporting goods, photography equipment, flags and party accessories, and other items, is up for let with Framlingham-based agency Clarke and Simpson.
