Family fencing and timber business' new shop to offer a solid service for customers
A family-run fencing and timber business is ready to face the public after opening a new shop in Diss.
Eastern Fencing and Timber Supplies has opened a shop in Vinces Road, offering owners Scott and Michelle Paternoster the chance to build relationships with customers face-to-face.
“We opened our mill in Knettishall a year-and-a-half ago, but we need to connect with customers more directly,” said Mr Paternoster, 48, of Stanton.
The business manufactures high-quality fence panels, as well as trellis and gates.
The new venture will be run by the couple, along with some help from their 15-year-old son, Scott.
After his time in the army, Mr Paternoster has previously worked for a national home improvement retailer and garden centre, as well as a UPVC window and door installer.
He was introduced to working with wood a few years ago while constructing his own house. It was his first time doing carpentry.
Realising he had a knack for it, he decided to set up his own business.
“I love working with wood,” he said.
“Now, we supply people and companies with bespoke products, in a variety of colours thanks to our spraying booth – not many businesses in this trade do that.
“We’re competitively priced, and all the wood is locally-sourced in East Anglia.”
The family hopes to involve community groups in new projects in the future.
“This is a totally new experience for me,” said Mrs Paternoster. “But, I am really enjoying it so far.”
