Harleston business hosts open days before closing up shop

A family-run cider business is hosting a final series of open days to sell off stock before winding down this year.

Harleston Cider Co, based in Palgrave, is run by Deb and Ken Woolley, their son Tim and his partner Ruth Comer.

Founded in late 2016, the company produces a range of ciders from locally sourced apples, including Ice Cider, which is heavily inspired by its Canadian counterpart.

While the business is to close, there will be a weekly delivery service on Fridays in November, and closing down sales at the business on November 5, 6 and 7 between midday and 5pm.

Ruth said: “Sadly, a lot of our revenue was from the brilliant markets and events we attended, which have all but dried up since March.

“We also get a big chunk from pubs, but they were shut for most of the summer and even now they’re not back to the same health or capacity they were a year ago. It’s a sad, but sensible, decision.”
