Eye skate park temporarily shut due to anti-social behaviour and illegal substance use
A town's skate park has been temporarily closed due to "prolonged misuse of the facility" including anti-social behaviour, public indecency and the taking of illegal substances.
At the extraordinary meeting of Eye Town Council’s Environment Committee on August 1, it was decided to temporarily close the skate park located at the Community Centre, Magdalen Street.
A spokesman for the council said: "There have been incidents of motorbikes and cars being used on the park this is a public safety matter for other uses.
"The skate park is monitored by CCTV and the council is working with the police to pursue prosecution where possible."
The council regrets the closure and apologises to those people who use the facility appropriately.
The future of the skate park will be discussed when the full Council meets on the September 18.
