Eye playwright’s piece set to go to America

LEARN MOREAn Eye writer and former actor has been told a play he co-wrote is to be taken on by an American theatre company.
John Gleeson, who has acting credits from shows including Doctor Who, was told his play, Separate Gables, which he wrote with his daughter Clare Nijhawan, who he has worked with on a number of projects, was going State-side.
He said: “I had a call from my agent who has an office in Manhattan and he told me the play had been picked up by a theatre company in Connecticut.
“We did show it at the Abbey Hall about 18 months ago and it went down really well there, so to have it go over there is just wonderful.”
The story follows two couples at a dinner party.
When one reveals the they are getting a divorce, comedy and emotional moments soon follow.

Mr Gleeson said he will not be going over to see the production when it starts, as he has too many projects going on this side of the Atlantic.
