Eye has its first ladies football team

After running Eye Saints Football Club for 16 years, Kim Crispin, with the help of Michelle Lanchester, decided to offer the same opportunity to female players.

“We’ve always wanted to set up a ladies team,” said Mrs Crispin. “Since the launch, we’ve been growing each week. This is a big thing for Eye and we are over the moon.”

The team currently consists of 14 women from Diss, Eye and the wider areas and this season’s focus will be on getting to know each other, before competing next year.

“Michelle, the manager of the team, is absolutely brilliant,” said Mrs Crispin.

“Hopefully, we will do as well as the men’s team and anyone interested, over the age of 16, is welcome to join. “
