EXCLUSIVE: Former organiser reveals PG's carnival secret
A former Diss Carnival organiser this week revealed Peter Gillings' carnival secret.
Doreen Collins, who organised the town's carnival between 2008 and 2016, said Peter Gillings, known as PG, was always a great supporter of the event.
Mr Gillings, who died last week, aged 69, was known, amongst many any other things, for driving the Carnival Queen each year, in one of his many top-of-the-range cars..
But Mrs Collins, who is currently running a campaign to line the streets of the town with flowers, called Floral Diss, has revealed, he was sometimes - " a few minutes late"
"He was always willing to support the carnival in my time as coordinator always giving me a choice of what car I wanted!! "Bentley, Rolls?" Always turning up for promotional events albeit a few minutes late at times because he’d only just remembered!
"A truly generous man who wanted nothing more than to support his town and its events.
"Mr Diss is a fitting title and how he will be fondly remembered."
You can read this and other tributes from some of the people who knew him best, in this week's Diss Express, out now
