LEARN MORENot a lot of people know this, said legendary film star Michael Caine.
And not a lot of people might know that prehistoric pollen grains have been found in the depths of Diss Mere.
This, and other little- known facts – or even fictions – about Diss from years gone by might help if you are planning to take part in next year’s carnival.
“We will be celebrating all things Pre-Diss-toric,” the carnival organisers said this week.
“We’re thinking of early man, the Flinstones, the invention of the wheel, Captain Caveman and hopefully quite a few dinosaurs.”
The carnival committee has also announced that the carnival and fun day next year will be on Sunday, June 9.
Chairman Natalie Thornton-Jones and vice-chairman Claire Keen have both been reappointed.
Application forms for the procession and funday stalls are currently being updated and will appear on the carnival Facebook page.
Following the new tradition, the carnival parade will form at the high school and process through the town to the Diss Park, where the main event takes place.
