“Exciting times” lay ahead for an East Harling roofing business after it put in plans to build a new factory to meet demand for its products.
Philip Bell, managing director of Aspect Roofing, based at The Old Mill in Harling Road, has said demand, mainly from major housebuilders, has led to the proposed £750,000 to £900,000 investment at the site.
If successful, Mr Bell said that 11 new full time jobs would be created.
He said: “It is exciting times for people on the site. It represents a big commitment.
“With the new development new (job) opportunities will be created and it is certain they will go predominantly to people in the local area.”
The new factory would be purpose built for the production of its core products - engineered timber roof trusses, floor joists and other building components.
The company is limited by its current facilities and the new factory would also see more efficient machinery and lifting equipment installed.
The new factory building will be almost 30 metres at its apex, three metres higher than the existing factory building, but lower than the roofs of the former mill building.
A spring 2015 opening is hoped for.
