In Beverley, we trust: Praise from Dogs Trust in Snetterton for top volunteer
An animal welfare charity has praised one of its volunteers for continually going above and beyond in caring for its dogs.
The Dogs Trust has thanked Beverley Giles for being an integral and much-loved member of its Snetterton team since 2017.
Having started out in the kennel team, which involved walking the dogs and cleaning out the living areas, the 78-year-old has since gone on to cover a number of roles, including meeting and greeting visitors, working as a canine assistant and driving all over East Anglia to collect dogs and deliver food.
The former headteacher, from Old Buckenham, said she loved her role at the Norfolk rehoming centre.
“I love dogs and I thought it would be lovely to walk some of the dogs at the trust, and that is how it all started for me,” she said.
“It is very fulfilling and means that, while I am doing my hours, all the people that work there are released to do the very important work of helping the dogs however they can.
“The staff at Snetterton are genuinely appreciative of what I and the other volunteers do, and they make you very much part of the team. I can’t praise them enough for being such caring people.”
Jane Brown, volunteer co-ordinator at the trust, said volunteers like Mrs Giles were vital.
“Taking the time to support us, often outside of her scheduled volunteering hours, Bev is a standout member of the team,” she said.
“We’re incredibly grateful, not just to Bev, but for all the volunteers who take time out of their busy lives.
“Having volunteers who go above and beyond for our team and the dogs we look after is amazing.”
