Swanwick Dog Daycare in Brome building top reputation for attentive care towards its furry visitors
Dogs have been leaving their lonely days behind them, thanks to a dog day care centre set up by a husband and wife.
Swanwick Dog Daycare, which is situated at Swanwick House in Brome, is a fully licensed premises providing exercise, socialising and activities for dogs while their owners are away or out at work.
It was set up by Dan Johnson, 42, and Lucy Johnson, 41, in March of this year – inspired by their own love of dogs.
“I’ve always loved dogs and worked around them at Pets at Home, as well as when running boarding kennels previously,” said Mrs Johnson.
“I’m a former dog groomer too, so I’ve always had that passion for being around them.
“When we bought a new home and had an extra outbuilding with the property, Dan said we should put it to use by running a dog cay care, and it was the perfect plan.
“We have a big outdoor space with an agility course and I’m setting up a bubbles day for them soon, so we keep them entertained, and one of our key selling points is that we are a small family business.
“This means we only have up to 10 dogs at any time and that allows us to give each dog lots of attention and time.”
Swanwick Dog Daycare costs £25 per day for two days or one, and £20 per day for bookings of more than two days.
The couple run the business full time and are looking to expand their offerings to potentially include renting out their agility course and offering home boarding.
“We’re still growing and building our reputation and word of mouth
has been great for that so far, as well
as social media,” added Mrs Johnson.
“We will hopefully expand our offerings in future, but at the moment we’re just really enjoying looking after each dog that comes in and making sure they are happy.
“We pride ourselves on working out their personalities and giving that extra reassurance for nervous dogs who might be away from their owners for the first time.
“They have a great balance of care, attention, fun and rest time with us, and we cater for all special diets and medicine courses, too.”
