Three youngsters have organised a free festive lunch and drop-in day for older people in Diss.

Zinhle Moyo, 17, Terence Robinson, 14, and Adam Keeley, 13, who are all pupils at Diss High School, have been busy contacting business for donations, designing advertising and organising the decorations. They will also be cooking the food for 40 people.

The event, which will take place in Diss Youth and Community Centre on Friday, December 21, will include refreshments, crafts, games and a tombola. People can drop-in on the day, but the free hot lunch must be booked.

The event came about after a successful funding bid to South Norfolk Council by MTM Youth Services and Unit Twenty Three. Even more youngsters, as well as adults, will be volunteering on the day.

“Our event is for older people who may be lonely this Christmas,” said Zinhle.

“We want them to come together this joyful season to make new friends and have some fun.”

The festive party is between 10.30am and 2.30pm. To book a place at the lunch, call 07546 059061 or email julia@mtmyouthservices.org.uk
