Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was sexually assaulted in her home in Diss.
It follows an incident on Saturday, between 10.30pm and 10.50pm, when a man entered a home via an insecure back door.
The intruder has physically and sexually assaulted the female householder, who managed to fight off her attacker, who fled the scene running out of the back door.
Police have since arrested a man aged in his 20s in connection with the incident who remains in custody at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre.
Detective Inspector Richard Graveling, from Norwich CID, is overseeing the investigation said: “This was a nasty incident where a woman has been attacked in her home by a stranger.
“As part of our enquiries, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Diss area between the times stated on Saturday night and may have seen a man acting suspiciously.
“I would like to take this opportunity to remind residents about the importance of home security and to keep doors locked wherever possible.”
