Diss signage company installs free protective screen for shopkeeper after Facebook appeal

A Diss signage company has installed a free protective screen for a nearby newsagent, after seeing an appeal online.

Keith Thompson, who runs Town and Country Signage in Owen Road, spent three hours installing the perspex screen at Premier Newsagents in Skelton Road, so that staff and customers can protect themselves and stem the spread of coronavirus.

The 57-year-old said: “Somebody had put something on Facebook saying that they were surprised the shop didn’t have a protective screen.

“We have plenty of perspex here – lots of off-cuts from old jobs. It hasn’t personally cost me a penny, just a bit of time and effort.

“What’s more important is to protect people right now and, if you can do somebody a favour as well, then why not?”

Ravi Kumar, 42, who runs the newsagent, said: “It’s absolutely brilliant. Everyone likes it, and it feels safer for customers.”
