The leisure centre in Diss will re-open its doors on Monday following the completion of a major £150,000 rejuvenation.

Diss Swim and Fitness Centre, located off the A1066 Victoria Road, is starting up once again after undergoing five weeks of renovation to turn it into what South Norfolk Council has described as “a community hub with modern facilities and state of the art fitness equipment.”

Included among the refurbishments, which have been delivered as part of a £4.15 million scheme to regenerate three local leisure centres, are a new reception area complete with a Costa Coffee bar, brand new changing and shower facilities and an upgraded gym with new resistance machines.

Debbie Lorimer, South Norfolk Council’s Director of Business Development, said: “This is the first step in an exciting programme of leisure improvements we are planning across the district, which will benefit the health and wellbeing of local people for years to come.”

Rob Adams, general manager of the leisure centre, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all our customers who have been so patient during the closure. We hope they will be as delighted as we are with the results and we look forward to welcoming them soon.”
