Diss Junior School has launched a new after-school LEGO club.

A primary school in Diss plans to help its pupils enhance their skills using LEGO building blocks, after launching a new scheme backed by local business sponsorship.

Diss Church of England Junior School established an after-school LEGO club, inspired by The LEGO Movie and Into Film’s LEGO Master Builders project, after acquiring donations from businesses in the area via its ‘Sponsor A Brick’ initiative, set up by class teacher Justin Gray.

Mr Gray said: “It is great to see local businesses in Diss support our school in a project which will benefit our pupils, and we thank each one enormously. We look forward to updating our sponsors on its success.”

Supported by the school’s PTA, it aims to give children the opportunity to develop by creating characters, settings, props and imaginative stories using the toys.

Karen Sewell, executive headteacher of the Diss Primary School Federation, added: “The children will all benefit from the generosity of our local businesses. We are starting with a LEGO Club but anticipate that the LEGO will be used to enhance many more areas of learning.”
