Man becomes "seriously unwell" after being detained by police in Diss under the mental health act




A man has fallen seriously unwell after being detained by police in Diss under the mental health act today (August 10.)

Norfolk Police were called to Cotman Close at 12.45pm after reports of a man acting suspiciously.

He was detained on Victoria Road outside Morrisons under the mental health act, but soon became seriously unwell.

An ambulance was called and an Essex & Herts Air Ambulance subsequently landed at the park beside the Mere.

The man was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital, where he is currently being treated.

A statement from Norfolk Police said: "As a result of police contact, the matter has been referred to the constabulary’s Professional Standards Department and will be referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC) which is standard procedure."
