The Diss Carnival makes its much-anticipated return this June, bringing with it a breadth of new headline attractions tied together with the underlying theme of ‘Diss Through the Ages.’

Proceedings kick off in Diss Park on Saturday, June 14 from 5.30pm with the second annual Park Alive Proms Concert. This time around, the event will feature an even wider array of local musicians and performers, as well as members of Park Radio.

Following this, the main ‘Fun Day’ festivities are set to commence on Sunday, June 15.

After the opening parade tours the town starting at 11.30am from Market Place, a full schedule of events will begin at noon at Diss Town Football Club, in Brewers Green Lane, with a host of entertainers and special visitors appearing across the rest of the day.

New for this year’s carnival are the exciting attractions put on by the RAF - the RAF Falcons Parachute Display Team will showcase their exhilarating routines, while a Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire will also make a commemorative fly-by.

Other noteworthy events include the activities organised by Combat Paintball and an informative demonstration from local bird-care organisation Phoenix Rescue.

Children will have no shortage of entertainment either, thanks to magician Neil Reeve, the animal-themed event by Zoo-tastic and the return of Leisure Climbing’s Bungee Trampoline and Climbing Wall.

There will be live music and stalls representing local clubs, societies and food vendors.

Last year’s festivities pulled crowds of all ages and interests in their hundreds, but the organisers are striving to make this year’s Carnival an even bigger success.

Amidst all the spectacle and bombast, attendees are encouraged to think about the theme of history in Diss - an appropriate time given the ongoing plans for regeneration in the Diss Heritage Triangle.

Admission to the ‘Fun Day’ is £3.50 per person, although children under 16 can get in free if accompanied by an adult.
