Diss and Roydon Councillor Graham Minshull reassures residents their results will be coming soon

Diss and Roydon Councillor Graham Minshull has praised the "incredible" testing rollout in the area, adding that people who have not had their test results back yet will be receiving them shortly.

More than 5,000 testing kits were completed or handed out on Friday after the South African coronavirus strain was discovered in Diss and Roydon earlier this week.

Speaking to Park Radio this morning, Councillor Minshull reassured residents that there was no need to worry if they have not received a result yet.

He said: "Don't panic, some go to different test centres and it all depends on how busy they are.

"We have had meetings today so I’m hopeful we will start to get those results through, but it will take time."

He also urged residents who have not already been tested to do so.

He said: "The more people we get, the more clear the results will be. Nobody is saying you have to do it, it’s a bit like doing a civic duty.

"You don’t have to do it but if you can, please do, and you have also got the assurance that you haven’t got any variant of the virus."

Whilst there are no more testing kits available to pick up, testing centres at Diss Youth and Community Centre, Roydon Village Hall, and Diss Leisure Centre remain open, and appointments can be booked by calling 119.

Mr Minshull added: "[The testing] is going incredibly well – we were expecting to give out around 5,000 kits, and we managed to give those out in the first day, which is astonishing.

"We are a victim of our own success – we don’t have any more home test kits to give out."

"You can still get one by dialling 119 – if you do do that, return it to on of our collection centres, don’t post it as it won’t be collected in the results."
