Decorated van in Kenninghall sends important message to drivers

The owner of a van parked in Kenninghall has tried to bring a little Christmas – and an important message to drivers.

Parked in Banham Road for some weeks, the vehicle has been decorated with tinsel, a tree, beads and even a Santa hat.

Resident Emma Downes said: “My son loves seeing it. Every time we drive past, he says ‘Look, my Santa’s on a ladder – why is he on a van though?’ It’s fabulous.”

The vehicle is believed to be parked at the spot to deter speeding, but some feel it is causing more harm than good.

Villager Jo Knox said: “I understand that someone has decided to do something, however, I do not think they should have taken it upon themselves.

“The van is causing problems for older residents to turn into their driveways. Although there is room to turn, the location of the van is far from ideal.

“Residents with young children are finding it much harder to cross safely.

“The issue on this road is the speed people drive down the hill. If this person wanted to slow traffic, they should have parked on the other side of the road.”
