Eye Sustainable Travel Day encourages people to think green when getting around




A sustainable travel day was held at Eye Community Centre to get visitors to think more green about the way they get around.

Organised by Mid Suffolk District Council and Suffolk County Council, Eye Sustainable Travel Day on June 15, June built on similar events held at Needham lakes in the spring.

Activities included free bike fix sessions with two mechanics, and a chance to try out electric bikes, cargo bikes and balance bikes.

There was even a pedal-powered smoothie making bike, with people hopping in the saddle to make banana and strawberry drinks.

A county council spokesman, said: “Thank you to residents from Eye for attending the event and making it a success.

“Attendees learned about the options available to them to travel more actively and sustainably and we hope they had some fun in the process,” he added.
