The dates for Diss Post Office move from Market Place to Mere Street revealed
The dates for the new post office in Diss opening and the old one closing have been revealed.
The move, which will see the service leave its current location where it has been in for 70 years, was decided after public consultations and due to the short-term contract on the site ending soon.
The current branch in Market Place will be closing on Friday, July 12, at 5.30pm and its new location, at 35e Mere Street, will open on July 16, at 1pm.
The new premises, formerly Octagon Craft Gallery and Coffee Lounge, is undergoing a full refurbishment to incorporate Diss Post Office as well as a card and stationery store.
There will be three serving positions in total, one screened and two open plan counter positions, and its opening hours will be Monday to Friday, between 9am to 5.30pm, and Saturday, between 9am and 12.30pm.
Wendy Hamilton, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We are delighted that there will soon be a permanent Post Office solution in Diss inside a new, fully modern shop.”
A review of parking has been carried out, which has confirmed that time restricted roadside parking is available nearby with dedicated disabled parking bays.
