A young dancer from Stradbroke High School has been performing with the English Youth Ballet Company in Cinderella in Hollywood.

Daisy Shearman, 13, from Stradbroke, was invited to perform with the prestigious ballet company at the Norwich Theatre Royal on May 25 to 26.

English Youth Ballet is unique in that it is the only English ballet company to go out into the regions of the UK to stage eight full-scale classical ballets each year, fronted by six international professional dancers in the principal roles and involving 100 different young ballet students from the surrounding area.

"In ballet, I love the way you can express your emotions and feelings on any topic or subject without having to speak. You can just use your body to express yourself and sometimes, that can be more powerful than words," said Daisy."I'm very nervous because there are so many people that I'm working with that, if you go to the wrong place on the stage or put your foot in the wrong place, you'lll really stand out.

"I really want to be a ballet dancer as it's something I enjoy so much and I' keen to keep learning about it more and more."

Daisy has studied ballet at Robert Andrews Academy of Dance since the age of three.
