Councillor visits as Diss Leisure Centre reopens its doors

Diss Leisure Centre opened its door this week, following the Government’s announcement that leisure centres and swimming pools can reopen.

The centre in Victoria Road had implemented a number of measures ahead of its reopening on Monday, including a one-way queuing system and protective screens in the reception area.

All sessions must now be pre-booked, and members are also restricted to just one activity per day.

South Norfolk Council cabinet member Alison Thomas, who visited the centre on Wednesday, said the reoping of leisure facilities was instrumental to keeping people healthy in the face of Covid-19.

She said: “It is fantastic news that we have now been able to reopen all our leisure centres and swimming pools.

“We know that keeping fit is a good defence against Covid-19 and we have done everything we can to help keep our staff and customers safe.”
