Could Diss be getting a Lidl after company reveals new locations list?
A supermarket chain has revealed today it is looking to put a new store in Diss.
Lidl released a list of 40 new locations that the budget-friendly chain wants to open in this financial year, with the town included on it.
The German-owned brand, which has more than 980 stores and 14 distribution centres in England, Scotland and Wales, is already building a new store in Mendham Lane, Harleston.
Once that store is completed it is expected to create around 40 jobs for the town.
Richard Taylor, chief real estate officer at Lidl GB, said: “As we enter our fourth decade in Great Britain and hurtle towards 1,000 stores, there are still so many parts of the country crying out for convenient access to a Lidl store.
“That’s why we welcome the measures proposed in the Government’s Planning and Infrastructure Bill – they recognise the urgent need to remove development barriers and support the growth Lidl is working towards.
“New stores mean new jobs, new opportunities for British suppliers, and continued investment into local economies.”
