Coronavirus Daily: Teachers' unions to meet with government advisors




With some teachers expressing concerns over the proposed return to schools for some pupils from June 1, government scientific advisors are set to meet with unions and try to reassure them today.

It comes after the announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday, that Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils could return, under strict social distancing measures.

Yesterday's figures from Public Health England showed Norfolk's confirmed positive cases over the previous 24-hour period had risen by 14, with a total so far of 1,944 and Suffolk with 23 new cases, taking its total to 1,326.

Figures also showed a slight rise in the daily UK figures for confirmed cases, going from 3,242 in the previous reported period to 3,446.

The total number of laboratory confirmed cases of the virus in the UK now stands at 233,151.
